To prepare for war, each town was required to do certain things. Such as, provide 400 men to fight, 25 divisions or 200,000 men to be mobilized and to give supplies for there survival. Beasides giving men, the towns would also have to come up with food - mostly maize because that lasted a long time - and bags to carry there stuff in. These towns were always there for the army under all circumstances.
