An ancient empire
Monetary System
In the Aztec empire, coca beans were the most commonly used as the main currency. However, in some occasions, larger purchases were traded with Quachtli or cloth. Since, the Aztecs did not have cash or credit cards to buy things with, different types of bean were usually traded to get food, clothing, animals, etc.
Examples of the System:
-
Fully riped avocado = 1 bean
-
Large tomato = 1 bean
-
Turkey egg = 3 beans
-
Child = 600 cacao beans
-
62kg gold statue = 250 beans
-

-
Small rabbit = 30 cacao beans
-
